Contaminated Water — What Should You Do?
Contamination often occurs when underground reservoirs or pipelines are not properly cleaned. Regular maintenance can prevent such issues.
Preventive Measures:
-
Maintain all internal pipelines to avoid contamination from underground sources. If a new line is needed, it must be installed with permission from the Corporation. Failure to comply may lead to disconnection (Sections 258, 278 of the KMC Act).
-
Cover all underground and overhead reservoirs properly and clean them weekly with bleaching powder. Uncovered or neglected reservoirs can become mosquito-breeding grounds and cause disconnection (Sections 275/1(b), 496).
